Four couples, three bedrooms, two celebrations, one blazing row and an illicit kiss (or two). Alan Ayckbourn's Bedroom Farce shines a brilliant spotlight onto the trials and tribulations of suburban marriage.

This very intricate play compares the experiences of couples young and old, and the different troubles that they encounter. A cracking farce from a master of his craft.

Delia & Ernest are getting ready to go out for a meal to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Malcolm & Kate are preparing to host their housewarming party. Jan & Nick, and Susannah & Trevor, have been invited to the party. However, Nick is suffering from a bad back, and can’t attend the party.

From here onwards, infidelity, surprise, and misinterpretation combine to cause chaos and confusion.  As the evening proceeds, we discover surprising links between all of the couples.

Alan Ayckbourn has written almost 75 full length plays, more than half of which have gone on to the West End. He is the most successful playwright in the world.

A master of tragi-comedy The Guardian on Alan Ayckbourn.
